With two open sides, Flex Double Sided fireplace insert creates the perfect room divider. The see-through design provides unobstructed views of the flickering flame from the front and the back, infusing warmth and ambiance into two adjacent rooms.
The Flex 86DB.BX2 includes a design that features Decorative Boxes on either side of the firebox. This 2 Box-design boasts an attractive visual symmetry while the glass panels that divide the Decorative Boxes and the Firebox create an uninterrupted, streamlined look.
One of the longest flames available in the Flex Series is created by using 2 of our ever-popular XL900 Burners. With an overall heating capacity of 1292ft2 this appliance is best suited to large open spaces - think hotel lobby, large open plan restaurants.
Each burner holds 2.4 gallons of fuel, and can deliver a stunning flame for up to 13 hours.

Can EcoSmart Fires be installed everywhere?
Almost everywhere! EcoSmart Fires cannot be installed into small rooms that are less than our minimum room size which is burner specific. For all other installations, you must comply with our compulsory clearances and installation instructions. Approval from building authorities may be required prior to installation in your area. Please make sure you contact appropriate parties before installing your EcoSmart Fire.
Do EcoSmart Fire ethanol fireplaces give off any fumes or gases?
Bioethanol fuel is made of fermented plants like sugarcane or corn and is essentially a liquid alcohol. To safely make “de-natured” and unfit for consumption, substances have been added. The burning of these substances may cause a slight smell upon initial lighting and when the flame is extinguished – similar to when you blow out a candle. Clean burning and eco-friendly, ethanol fuel releases heat, carbon dioxide (the same stuff we exhale) and steam.

An ethanol fireplace is an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative to gas fireplaces and wood burning fireplaces. How much does it cost to maintain an ethanol fireplace?
EcoSmart Fire’s ethanol fireplaces require little maintenance. It is important to keep the lid closed when not in use to keep debris out of the ethanol burner that can cause corrosion and damages. The 304 stainless steel tank is built to last a lifetime if proper cleaning procedures are done when needed.
How safe are bioethanol fireplaces?
EcoSmart Fire’s operating tools, procedures, and proprietary technologies were developed with safety as our top priority. Made from 304-grade stainless steel, EcoSmart Fire’s ethanol fireplace burners go through a deep-draw fabrication process that eliminates the potential for dangerous leaks. Additionally, our patented filling point is separated from the ignition zone and engineered so that the jerry can spout is fully supported prior to releasing the fuel supply. This eliminates the usual splash and spills that would otherwise occur when fuel is decanted into the burner while simultaneously reinforcing the maximum fill line within the burner. EcoSmart Fire’s ethanol fireplaces release heat, carbon dioxide (the same stuff we exhale) and steam. Allowing you to enjoy a clean-burning flame without the soot, smoke, ash or other harmful substances emitted by traditional wood burning fireplaces. What is bioethanol fuel?
Bioethanol (also known as methylated spirits or simply ethanol) is a form of renewable energy. It’s a clear, colourless liquid that’s commonly made from fermenting the sugar and starch components of plant by-products like sugarcane and grain crops.
Is their heat output similar to a gas heater?
Burning bioethanol is similar to gas, but the room doesn't dry out like it does with gas - a more gentle, softer heat is created. Heat-wise, it depends on the models being compared. Some of our bioethanol burners output 15,000 BTU and can heat up to 60sqm of living space. Bioethanol is not, however, on an adjustable thermostat. Some may be turned up and down, but you can't control the room temperature in the same way as you do with gas on mains
